As part of the 2024 Tesla Holiday Update, SiriusXM is now available as a fully-integrated feature in Tesla’s Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles — as well as its Cybertruck, which first hit the road a year ago.
Per a SiriusXM spokesperson, this is a bespoke, streaming-enabled integration and does not require the broadcast company’s satellite hardware (antenna/receiver) in the car.
After the software update is installed, SiriusXM will appear in the media sources menu, where drivers can begin a free one-month trial subscription to SiriusXM, according to a company press release. A Tesla Premium Connectivity or active Wi-Fi connection is required to access the audio service.
“Subscribers will enjoy a SiriusXM experience fully tailored for Tesla and built upon the audio company’s next gen platform, offering unparalleled choice, content discovery and a personalized listening experience,” read the release.
A couple highlights of the service include the addition of custom stations — which can be originated from any artist or band — and a library of podcasts across comedy, news and entertainment genres.
Drivers will also have access to a personalized “For You” landing page and an integrated voice search to initiate playback.
SiriusXM says it will remain available in its current form on every Tesla Model S and Model X.
