Wheatstone will demo the new Neuron FM/HD/DAB+ spectral audio processor at the NAB Show.
It uses 1/3-octave band resolution for transient peak control. It has separate FM and HD/DAB+ paths, which allow for their own program aware peak controllers.
“The result is the ability to drive more energy into the processor, yet maintain peak compliance for a much fuller, vibrant on-air sound,” the company said in a release.

The Neuron uses Wheatstone’s density compression algorithms to analyze pre- and post-processed audio as well as data from user control settings. It also uses the company’s baseband192 technology, which it says digitizes the multiplex spectrum and eliminates the need for an analog composite interface.
The processor’s feature set includes pre-emphasis optimization, multipath mitigation, an RDS/RDBS generator and an SCA and stereo generator.
Wheatstone said the processor is compatible with its WheatNet IP, which allows settings to be managed remotely from a WheatNet IP-equipped studio.
The new Neuron FM/HD/DAB+ spectral audio processor will be on display at Wheatstone’s NAB Show booth.
