On Monday, Telos Alliance announced the release of Zephyr Connect, a software-based, multi-codec gateway for transporting multiple channels of stereo, mono and dual-mono audio across IP networks.
According to a company press release, Zephyr Connect is “built on the legacy of the Telos iPort series of hardware products” and is delivered as a software container that can be deployed on-site via a COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) or cloud-hosted server.
Robbie Green, product manager at Telos, said the deployment Zephyr Connect reinforces Telos’ commitment to virtualization while supplementing its traditional hardware products.
“Zephyr Connect provides the same functionality and features as our Telos iPort High Density hardware platform, but with more flexibility and scalability; each instance comes with two bi-directional codec channels, but customers can expand that to a total of sixty-four channels in one-channel increments, making it easy to grow as their needs change,” said Green in the release.
Telos said Zephyr Connect is ideal for sending multiple linear or MPEG channels over VPNs, satellite links, Ethernet radio systems and Telco-and ISP-provided services such as SD-WAN, MPLS or legacy data links.
“It can also be used as a network distribution system, a multi-channel link to remote studios or a studio-to-transmitter link,” wrote Telos.
Zephyr Connect is available to order now, via Telos’ network of dealers. It is expected to ship in September.
