Telos Adds VX Duo to Its VoIP Phone System Family

It's a budget-minded addition suitable for use in a studio

A silver and black product, one rack unit in height, and one-third of a rack widthTelos Alliance is out with a new VoIP broadcast phone system called the Telos VX Duo.

It is part of the family that is headed by the flagship VX Enterprise system, “at a price point that puts VoIP within the reach of any budget.”

Product Manager Robbie Green noted in the announcement that services based on legacy copper phone lines are increasingly costly. “We wanted to make sure that all broadcasters, even those with modest tech budgets, are able to capture the savings offered by VoIP,” along with increased reliability and higher-quality call audio.

VX Duo has a compact and silent platform designed for in-studio use. It can be placed on a studio or control room surface. Up to three units can be placed side by side on a 1 RU rack shelf.

“Livewire+ AES67-equipped studios can send and receive audio directly over the AoIP network via one of VX Duo’s two Ethernet ports, while the other provides connectivity to VoIP services.”

Telos VSet phones, integrated console call controllers and VX-compatible call screening software integrate with VX Duo, as does the Axia Pathfinder Core Pro Broadcast Controller for building HTML5-based control panels.

The VX Duo comes with two channels/hybrids and is expandable to eight channels/hybrids in two-channel increments via expansion licenses, so it can serve a single studio (as two separate caller faders on the board) or split between two studios, such as an AM/FM combo, or a control room and production studio.

Pricing starts $1,995 for VX Duo hardware and two channels/hybrids. Delivery is expected in October.
