From the Radio World “Who’s Buying What” page: Spain’s public service radio broadcaster Radio Nacional de España has selected LiveU for an IP-based live video solution.
RNE is now using LiveU’s LU-Smart mobile app integrated with its Studio cloud production service. The broadcaster is using the Madrid-based Datos Media Technologies as an integrator.

Jose Luis García Hernán-Pérez, RNE’s deputy director of technical media, said in a release that the solution will allow the public broadcaster to incorporate more video content into its radio programming. “This responds to the growing demand from RNE’s audience who seek a richer and more dynamic multimedia experience,” he said.
LU-Smart uses 4G, 5G, WiFi and LAN-based networks to provide coverage for live content production via a smartphone. The signals are then sent to LiveU Studio, which facilitates live content production in a cloud-based environment. The setup allows for channel and management and mixing up to 12 sources. LiveU said Studio also allows for graphic editing, switching and video distribution without the need for physical infrastructure.

LiveU Studio also allows integration of portable field units to contribute distributed live feeds. The release indicated the feeds could be then broadcast across any of RTVE’s radio or TV platforms.
RNE is RTVE’s radio division, while Televisión Española is the television division, which is the oldest regular television service in Spain.
