AVT Audio Video Technologies has expanded its lineup of Magic Collaboration Services.
The services enable integration of Microsoft Teams and WebRTC for audio and video calls into existing broadcast workflows. They are an optional upgrade for new and existing AVT Magic telephone hybrids, including Magic TH2plus, Magic TH6, Magic THipPro Lite, Magic THipPro and Magic Server.
The Basic level makes connection via WebRTC from a web browser possible without the caller needing additional software. Calls can then be transmitted via G.722 or Opus.
The Professional package additionally offers connection to Microsoft Teams. Reporters and correspondents using Teams can call into live broadcasts with the best audio and optional video quality.
“For remote interviews, it is also possible to integrate external participants, such as experts or correspondents, into Teams calls or conferences via scheduled meetings,” AVT states.

The organization’s Teams phonebook is displayed in the software and the audio transmission uses the MS Satin Codec, which AVT says provides excellent audio quality even with high packet loss.
All of AVT’s VoIP telephone hybrid systems can be expanded to include an additional, widely used communication channel, enabling web and video calls to be connected to the studio infrastructure.
“For users, a call via Microsoft Teams or WebRTC with our solution is just as easy as a classic telephone call, and all the familiar functions such as PreTalk, Hold and On-Air are available as usual.”
Required lines can be licensed individually for each system. Management is via a web interface that allows the parallel registration of Magic Collaboration Channels and VoIP lines. In addition to audio signals, the lines can be licensed for video calls, whereby the video signal is displayed directly above the line and can also be output via NDI.
