IBC SNEAK PEEK: Sonnet Highlights New Thunderbolt Peripherals

External solid-state drives, graphics processors and Ethernet adapters available

Computer peripheral specialist Sonnet Technologies will bring new Thunderbolt 3-based peripherals to the IBC show.

In Amsterdam will be Fusion 1TB and 2 TB PCIe portable solid-state Flash storage drives (shown). The Windows- and Mac-compatible drives are capable of 40 Gbps bandwidth of its Thunderbolt 3 interface to deliver data transfer speeds up to 2,600 Mbps.

Also on display will be the new eGFX BreakawayBox 650 Thunderbolt 3 to GPU card expansion system. These are designed to handle what the company describes as “large, power-hungry graphics cards, including the AMD Radeon RX Vega 64, Radeon Pro WX 9100, 9100 SSG and overclocked NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10 series-based cards.”

Also the graphics processor front Sonnet will have two complete Thunderbolt 3 solutions with graphics cards already installed — eGFX Breakaway Puck Radeon RX 560 and GFX Breakaway Puck Radeon. These are designed for supplementing a laptop.

The Solo 10G is a new Thunderbolt 3 is an external 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter. The adapter connects Windows and Mac computers with a Thunderbolt 3 port to 10 GbE networks. A PCIe card version is the Solo 10G PCIe; which can also work in Linux systems.

The IBC2018 show is Sept. 13–18, in Amsterdam.
