Beachgoers from the Washington, D.C. region can now hear WAMU(FM) on the Delmarva Peninsula. American University licensee WAMU at 88.5 MHz has launched its Ocean City, Md. relay, WRAU, on 88.3 MHz.
The station will be known on-air as “Eighty-eight three Ocean City,” and its program schedule will largely mirror the WAMU 88.5 schedule and also include local shore content, such as news, traffic and weather.
“Our audience has long expressed a desire to ‘take us across the bridge’ with them, and 88.3 Ocean City allows them to do just that,” stated WAMU General Manager Caryn Mathes.
WAMU broadcasts from 88.3 Ocean City on the Delmarva Peninsula and in Washington on three HD channels. It is joined at the shore by Baltimore’s WYPR 88.1 MHz, which recently started operating an Ocean City area relay as WYPO at 106.9 MHz.
