The New York City chapter of the Society of Broadcast Engineers has plenty to be thankful for this holiday season.
“Chapter 15 NYC has won the most awards in its history,” said Jeff Schick, chapter chairman and chief technology officer at Sprite Media, Inc.
Listing just a few of SBE Chapter 15’s accomplishments in 2023, Schick said: “We brought back a very successful Ennes Workshop. For the first time we provided two presentations at the NAB New York convention. We’ve established Hofstra University as SBE Chapter 15.1 and hope to add other colleges as sub-chapters, providing broadcast technology education through the national Society of Broadcast Engineers.”
He said, some months, the NYC chapter had to add additional meetings in order to cover an abundance hot topics and important industry vendors. “As our seminars and webinars have improved in quality, our attendance has reflected that,” said Schick.
To celebrate these successes — as well as the year-end holidays — on Dec. 7, SBE 15 NYC held a holiday lunch at Legends, a lively sports bar and restaurant located right across the street from the Empire State Building. The lunch also served as a time to celebrate those who won SBE-specific awards.

“We are very happy to have 2023 as one of our most successful years in the history of our New York City chapter,” said Schick.
