SoundStack Names John Morris CPO

He headed digital audio development at WideOrbit and AmperWave

SoundStack has named John Morris as chief product officer, a newly created position.

The company said Morris will lead the development of its products and features. SoundStack markets “audio as a service products” to digital providers, including broadcasters and podcasters.

In a release, SoundStack CEO, John Stephenson praised Morris’ core values and his more than 20 years of experience building streaming, podcast and supply-side platforms.

“John Morris is accountability and hustle personified,” Stephenson said.

Morris held several roles at streaming audio and ad tech company Abacast beginning 2001, ultimately becoming its CTO and co-president. Abacast was acquired by WideOrbit in 2014.

Under Morris, WideOrbit expanded its digital offerings to include podcasting. 

After Audacy acquired Morris’ WideOrbit business and rebranded it as AmperWave, Morris was named its SVP and GM. He helped lead AmperWave to release a new programmatic SSP and an inventory forecasting platform.

In the release, Morris described himself as a passionate builder and seeking a company which places publishers first. “I can’t wait to show the world some of the incredible tech we’ve got in the works,” he said.
