Radio Design Labs and its new majority owner Vopne Capital have named Erik Tarkiainen as RDL’s president.
He succeeds company founder Joel Bump, who will remain with the business focused on product development.
Clay Dukes, principal at Vopne Capital, called Tarkiainen “a critical addition.”
“We invested in RDL knowing the importance of finding a manager with experience that is complementary to Joel’s vision and ongoing contribution to the company,” said Dukes.
Vopne became a major investor in RDL earlier this year.
RDL is based in Arizona and makes audio, video and control modules for professional audio-visual applications.
“Erik’s successful history as an executive in the audio industry includes his most recent position as CEO/GM of House of Marley in the FKA family of audio brands,” RDL stated.
“Prior to that, Erik served as VP of global marketing for Harman’s Professional Solutions Division. Erik has also held management roles with professional audio industry leaders such as Line 6, iZotope and Bose.”
Tarkiainen has a BS in electrical engineering and a minor in electronic music from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He completed graduate coursework in acoustics and digital signal processing from Pennsylvania State University and an MBA in marketing from Boston University.
