This Hit Music Radio Station Is Fully AI-Generated

Hit Radio AI is blending artificial intelligence with traditional production methods

Tagged as the “AI Powered Hit Radio from the Future,” Hit Radio AI is a fully artificial intelligence-generated hit music station created in the spirit of traditional, mass-appeal Top 40 stations.

Dave Solomon, chief curator of Hit Radio AI, said the station’s format is “rooted in pop, but blends in rock, country and unique genres to keep things fresh and engaging — just like pre-fragmented CHR radio, when you could hear a hair band back-to-back with Kenny Rogers.”

To learn more about the station’s inception, we chatted with Solomon via email.

Radio World: What company or people are behind Hit Radio AI?

Dave Solomon: The Moonstruck Broadcast Group powers Hit Radio AI, a labor of love by a dedicated team of 2–6 music curators weekly. We’re on a mission to bring the best of AI music to listeners everywhere.

RW: How did you get involved?

Solomon: I’ve spent years in radio, from ownership/management to programming and engineering, but I am also a BMI-affiliated songwriter and stock music producer as well. After losing my mom last spring, I experimented with generative AI music as a creative outlet and was amazed by the level of control these tools offered.

By blending AI with traditional production methods, I realized we could create unique sounds that are both familiar and innovative.

AI is evolving the future of music, and I became excited with the thought of bringing that sound to a traditional radio station.

RW: What is the target audience?

Solomon: Our audience is global, and we’re designing Hit Radio AI to be as mass-appeal as possible. With a pop foundation, we incorporate a variety of genres to attract a diverse listenership. As we continue growing our library, we look forward to expanding into dedicated channels for specific genres as well.

RW: What AI-based tools are you using?

Solomon: We use a mix of today’s cutting-edge AI music generators, text-to-speech systems and sound design tools to create our imaging. New technology emerges almost daily, allowing us to discover fresh ways to craft the station.

RW: How good has the AI been so far? How could it be better?

Solomon: The quality of AI-generated music has improved at an amazing rate. Today’s tools allow for exciting innovations like creating entire songs from a short audio snippet, editing sections on demand and even generating variations that build on the original track.

These tools are changing so rapidly that I can only imagine what they’ll be capable of a year from now. Already, many with trained ears struggle to tell whether some songs are AI generated or not.

RW: What else should we know?

Solomon: AI music generation is just the next step in music technology, much like the electric guitar or multitrack recording was in its day. AI allows creators to work more affordably and flexibly, bringing unique sounds to life. We receive hundreds of submissions weekly and curate it down to 20–50 playlist adds. But that number is getting bigger as the product improves.

Music tech is advancing rapidly — imagine a future where an AI can sense your mood and play a custom soundtrack just for you. Hit Radio AI gives listeners a taste of this potential, and we’re just getting started.
