Progressive Concepts Acquires Norwalk Electronics

It will continue to make the Dominator antenna line

Progressive Concepts has acquired Norwalk Electronics from its founder Donald Casavecchia Jr.

“Norwalk Electronics is best known for manufacturing the NWE34 Dominator FM Antenna,” Progressive owner Eric Hoppe said in the announcement.

“The Dominator Antenna is available in 250 Watts, 1 kW and 3 kW models, all providing +3 dB gain in a single-bay, design with low angle of radiation, making them very popular amongst FM broadcasters.”

Progressive will manufacture the antennas at its Illinois factory.

Casavecchia wrote in a statement that he was retiring after 28 years.

“Eric at Progressive Concepts was Norwalk Electronics’ very first vendor of the Dominator FM antennas and is an ideal fit to continue to keep this product available,” wrote Casavecchia.

Hoppe told RW, “The new models being produced by Progressive include several improvements that make them heavier duty and more durable while maintaining the excellent propagation and performance characteristics of the original design.”

Progressive Concepts was founded by Hoppe in 1990. It specializes in products for FM and low-power FM applications including transmitters. Norwalk Electronics was based in Norwalk, Conn.

The terms of the cash sale were not disclosed. The acquisition involved products and intellectual property.
