GeoBroadcast Solutions said four more U.S. broadcasters plan to use its ZoneCasting FM geotargeting technology.
“These stations represent a diverse array of markets, formats and communities, all eager to leverage the benefits of hyper-local content delivery to better serve their audiences and advertisers,” the company said in a press release.
According to GBS, the stations that have started the process include WKTT in Salisbury/Ocean City, Md.; KPKL in Spokane, Wash.; WEIB in Springfield, Mass.; and KAFF in Flagstaff, Ariz.
GBS said that ZoneCasting-related applications have been submitted by 12 stations in nine markets.

The FCC in May began allowing FM boosters to originate programming for three minutes per hour. The commission is taking applications for one-year renewable experimental licenses while it works out final rules for geotargeting. If an FM station doesn’t already have a booster, it must apply for one first, then apply for the geotargeting authority.
