Radio stations and other EAS participants in the United States now have a bit more time to file their annual ETRS Form One.
The FCC has extended the deadline by two weeks to Oct. 18 because of Hurricane Helene and the damage it has caused. It issued a public notice to that effect on Tuesday (read it here). The extension is nationwide.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency, working with the FCC, periodically conducts nationwide tests of the Emergency Alert System and Wireless Emergency Alerts. ETRS is the EAS Test Reporting System. FEMA will not conduct a nationwide EAS test this year, but EAS participants must still fill out Form One for 2024. It covers information such as EAS designation, monitoring assignments, facility location, equipment type, contact information and other data.
Filers can access ETRS by visiting this page on the commission’s website.
