Billy DiMaio, 25, an account executive for Audacy based in New York City, was one of the victims. He had worked for Audacy since 2023.

While officials have not yet released the names of the 14 deceased, families, friends and colleagues have started paying tribute to those lost.

An Audacy spokesperson shared the following statement with Radio World on Friday, Jan. 3:

“We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Billy DiMaio, a New York-based account executive, in the terrorist attack in New Orleans. Beyond his professional achievements, Billy will be fondly remembered for his unwavering work ethic, positive attitude and kindness.

“He was a true asset to the Audacy team, and his contributions and presence will be deeply missed. Our thoughts are with Billy’s family and friends during this exceedingly difficult time, and we extend our deepest sympathies to them and every member of the Audacy family who had the privilege of working with him.”

In a statement on the company’s website, Audacy CEO David Field said, “It was clear to all that Billy had the talent and character to ensure a very bright future, and his sudden passing has left a profound void in the hearts of all who knew and worked with him.”

The FBI on Thursday, described the deadly event as “an act of terrorism.” According to the Associated Press, a Louisiana State Police bulletin early Friday said 10 of the 14 killed have been identified. About 30 people were injured, 16 remain hospitalized and eight of those are in the Intensive Care Unit, the patrol said.
