The FCC has granted the first LPFM construction permits.
Twenty-five CPs were authorized this week for low-power stations in California, Louisiana, Maryland, Georgia, Maine, Indiana and Oklahoma.
Among the successful applicants was the Georgia Department of Transportation, which won CPs in Tallapoosa, Louise and Lavonia.
A number of churches and school groups received CPs. The list also includes an astronomy club in San Clemente, Calif.
