The DTS AutoStage platform is now in 10 million vehicles in 146 countries, according to parent company Xperi Inc.
Exhibiting at CES this week, Xperi also said its HD Radio receivers recently reached implementation in 110 million vehicles and that HD Radio is approaching rollout in 60% of new cars shipped each year in North America. The company said about 6 million vehicles in North America use both DTS AutoStage and HD Radio.
The company is in the West Hall at CES in booth 5840.
DTS AutoStage is the company’s “hybrid radio” platform that combines broadcast reception with IP-delivered content. Uptake of such technologies can happen faster than in the past, now that carmakers can more easily deliver substantial software updates to cars already in the field.
Xperi said its consumer survey research shows that “personal vehicle ownership is here to stay and that car owners, especially Gen Z and luxury vehicle owners, view it as an important third space.” It said that includes watching videos while a car is parked.
“Improved comfort and personalization, as well as having as many entertainment choices on their vehicle’s infotainment system as on their TV or mobile device, are among the features these respondents agreed would make their vehicle a better third space.”
The company is highlighting its DTS AutoStage Video Service, based on its TiVo technology, which launched in some BMWs in 2023. Xperi said the video platform will be available from a Japanese car company “as soon as 2026.”
