WASHINGTON ��More than a month after Hurricane Maria made landfall, it�s important to remember the challenges faced by broadcasters in U.S. territories affected by the storm.
According to recent reports from the FCC�s Disaster Information Reporting System, the communications infrastructure in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands have been improving.
More radio stations in Puerto Rico are now reported on air than are suspected to be dark, according to the Oct. 23 DIRS report. However, no changes have been reported for several days.
Currently, in Puerto Rico, 44 AM and 36 FM radio stations are confirmed operational:

And in the U.S. Virgin Islands, two AM stations are confirmed operational � WSTA(AM) and WUVI(AM) �� two AMs are are suspected to be out of service � WDHP(AM) and WSTX(AM). WVIE(FM) and WZIN(FM) have been confirmed to be operational, but WGOD(FM) and WVIZ(FM) are suspected to be currently off the air.
