L.A. Reid
Music industry executive, songwriter, producer and reality television celebrity, L.A. Reid, gave the keynote address at a New York Market Radio panel on “How Radio Creates the Next Star,” held Oct. 2 as part of Ad Week.
“The power of radio is bigger than artists,” Reid said. “I embrace the importance of radio and artists. I define success by what I hear on the radio.”
The panel took place at the Times Center in New York City and focused on how radio can be an effective vehicle in the current media paradigm.
Other participants in the conversation, which touched on how and why radio can help catapult breakout artists to superstardom, included: Joe Puglise, chair and president and market manager of Clear Channel, New York; Mark Shimmel, chief operating officer at Epic Records; Steve Bartels, president and chief operating officer of Island Def Jam Music Group; Bozoma Saint John, music and entertainment marketer for PepsiCo; and Ebro Darden, vice president of programming for Emmis, New York.
