The Public Radio Satellite System says it has put some systems in place and is considering others to prevent another power failure like the one that knocked out all power to its National Operations Center the late afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 14.
PRSS believes a tripped circuit breaker that may have overheated is the likely culprit for the power outtage that necessitated operations to shift to a backup center in St. Paul, Minn., that day. The outage began at 3:51 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time and normal operations resumed at 7 p.m.
A future enhancement of the St. Paul backup ops center is now planned within the next year.
