The NAB Radio Show in Austin, Texas, drew 2,743 attendees, said National Association of Broadcasters officials.
That compares to about 3,100 in Charlotte, N.C., last year and roughly the same number as in Dallas in 2006.
"'Drive-in traffic' that normally materializes at the Radio Show was pretty much non-existent this year because of Hurricane Ike, and because some 60 radio stations in Texas were off the air during our show trying to get their facilities back on the air," NAB's Dennis Wharton told RW.
Next year's show returns to Philadelphia; that city attracted 3,900 and 3,700 people in 2003 and 2005 respectively, according to NAB at the time.
