Failing to full-staff its main studio could entail a $7,000 fine for WJDZ(FM), Pastillo, Puerto Rico.

During an inspection by the Enforcement Bureau’s San Juan office this March, the FCC agent found the main studio unattended. The agent returned two hours later and a technician met him at the studio.

The technician said he’s the only employee at the main studio and the station manager works more than an hour and a half away in Toa Baja.

Days later, according to the FCC’s account, the agent returned four times to conduct another inspection of WJDZ’s main studio, but found it locked an unattended.

The commission requires licensees to maintain a “meaningful management and staff presence” at its main studio.

The agency proposed a $7,000 fine for licensee Siembra Fertil P.R. Inc. and directed the broadcaster to submit a sworn statement within 30 days stating that the company is maintaining a full-time management and staff presence at WJDZ’s main studio.

Siembra also has 30 days to appeal or pay the fine.
